Old St Peter’s church

If you go up to the old church you’ll notice that work has now started to preserve and restore the site.

We are currently installing new fencing that should help keep the site safe and secure.

The Church in Wales has also started work on the fabric of the building. They will remove all the vegetation, take out the old mortar and then re-point the walls. This should prevent water getting into the stonework and further deterioration.

Work will also take place to restore the box graves (to make them safe), and to improve the steps up to the church. New gates will also go in at the top of the steps along with new signage and interpretation boards.

This work is being jointly funded by the Community Council (thanks to the grant we won earlier this year) and the Church In Wales, which owns the site.

Our aim is to to help secure this fabulous green space so it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
