Llandyrnog and DistrictVillage football Summer League began in 1926and has provided young men with the opportunity to play soccer for their local village team.
Rules state players have to reside within a prescribed boundary. Llangynhafal football team comprises players from llangynhafal, Gellifor and Llanbedr D.C.
The league runs from April to July each year. There are twelve village teams in the league, who are based in Denbighshire and Flintshire area.
Llangynhafal football team play home matches at Rhewl. During the 2013 season Llangynhafal F.C. achieved seven wins and three draws. Significant wins included :-
9 – 1 against Trefnant
10 – 5 against Clawddnewydd
9 – 5 against Ysceifiog
2 – 1 against Llanrhaedr
2 – 1 against Llanfair
Llangynhafal achieved a fantastic win of 5 – 1 over Llanrhaedr in the first round of the shield only to be knocked out by Ysceifiog in the quarter finals.
At the presentation night manager martin Dyre presented cups to players including Tom Sharples from LLanbedr and Berwyn Jones from Gellifor. The cup for club person of the year was presented to Gareth Smith from Llanbedr.
Top scorers with 14 goals each were Liam jones from Gellifor and Garmon Hafal from Llangynhafal.
