December update: MY TREE – OUR FOREST
The Welsh Government and Coed Cadw, the Woodland Trust in Wales, are offering trees to households in Wales, free of charge. The trees will help tackle the effects of climate change and will also contribute to the National Forest for Wales (please see the Woodland Trust website for details).
Between now and March 2023 the Woodland Trust has 295,000 trees available on a first-come first served basis.
After the first press notifications last year your community council applied to be a distribution hub, as this scheme fits very well with our overall eco strategy focusing on Biodiversity. After a rigorous application process we were delighted to be chosen as a distribution hub and even more delighted by the response from the village residents. Over the first 2 days we distributed over 150 trees which for a village our size is extraordinary. I would like to thank all the volunteers who made the days possible and also all our residents who made this such a success, even coming to the Village Hall to collect their trees on an icy freezing Sunday!
We will be holding 2 more distribution days during February and March 2023. Dates to be confirmed so please keep a lookout and tell your friends. Any household in Wales can collect from Llanbedr DC and you can collect up to 3 trees if you are collecting for someone who cannot get to the distribution days.
