Community Fibre Partnership – November 2021 Update
Register now to help us get full fibre internet for all of Llanbedr
Thank you to those that have registered so far. We are about half way to the numbers we need to qualify for the installation vouchers scheme.
Please note:
• Registering now does NOT commit you to anything. To qualify for the grant that helps pay for the installation Openreach just needs to see that there is enough interest in the community.
• If we get enough interest the scheme will roll out with free installation across Llanbedr.
• It’s up to you at that time what broadband package you choose, there is no commitment. BT Openreach powers most of the service providers, and there’s no reason that you need to pay more than you are paying now.
There’s really no reason not to sign the expression of interest now – you’ll be helping to unlock a large grant for the whole community and bringing superfast broadband to the area years earlier than we would otherwise get it.

Full fibre broadband provides download speeds of up to 1000 Mbps and could be installed free of charge as early as next year using government ‘vouchers’ – but only if residents act now. If we wait for Openreach to install full fibre on their normal build schedule it will not happen until 2025 at the very earliest. The grant funding that can deliver the project 3-4 years early relies on individual expressions of interest. We need a critical mass of residents (one contact per property) to register their interest now to demonstrate the viability of the project. The sooner we can demonstrate widespread community interest, the sooner we can progress the project to the next stage.
In cooperation with network provider Openreach and Llanbedr DC Community Council, this is an evolution of a project started last year, when residents and businesses were asked to provide their details to the Community Fibre Partnership. Unfortunately, Openreach are unable to use the details gathered at that time and we need to provide a refreshed list of those interested. So even if you have previously expressed an interest, we need you to do so again.
You can find out more information about Community Fibre Partnerships at https://www.openreach.com/…/community-fibre-partnerships, and more information about the amazing benefits of full fibre at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-49253071.
The Community Fibre Partnership is run by residents of Llanbedr DC and we will only use your details to provide you with information and updates about the Full Fibre project and demonstrate the level of interest within the community. We promise to keep emails to a minimum and you are not committing to anything by registering your interest with us at this stage.
